Overview
In the heart of the Thessalian Agrafa, Argithea reveals a well-hidden «alpine» secret: Leontito. Built at 1,000 meters, at the foot of Delidimis, the village is embraced by fir forests, imposing peaks and wild ravines that compose a landscape of unique beauty.
The experience begins at the traditional watermill of Paliantonis and continues in the paved square, under the thousand-year-old plane tree – a meeting point and a place of history, where Georgios Karaiskakis rested. Next door, the café, the old stone school-library, the stone-built fountain and the church of Agios Charalambos complete the authentic image of the village.
The route culminates at the pilgrims’ path that leads to the Monastery of Panagia Spiliotissa. Perched on a steep rock, it seems to hover above the valley, offering views of the Argitheatika Mountains and the Petriliotis River. There, the serenity of the landscape and the warm hospitality of the monk Nektarios complete an unforgettable experience.
